Sometimes they were just a couple days long.
It all depends on the patient, though.

As with many infectious diseases, there is no test that can “prove” cure. Tests for Lyme disease detect antibodies produced by the human immune system to fight off the bacteria (Borrelia burgdorferi) that cause Lyme disease. These antibodies can persist long after the infection is gone.
What are Herxing symptoms?
The Herxheimer Reaction is a short-term (from days to a few weeks) detoxification reaction in the body. Is Herxing a good thing?
Each time, the Herxheimer reaction was a little less intense, but shorter. You might feel like you’re dying when you’re having one, but in fact it’s actually the bacteria that is dying, and that’s really a good thing. You can’t control how well your body will respond to antibiotics, but you can help the detox process.

The Jarisch–Herxheimer reaction is an acute febrile reaction that occurs in many patients within 24 hours of commencing treatment. It is mediated by cytokines.
